St Charles Virtual Open Afternoon

If you are looking for a school place for your child for September 2021 at St Charles Primary, one of the best ways to get to know our school would normally be at open event. As we are unable to welcome groups of visitors into the school at the moment, we have created an online information event giving you an insight into why St Charles' VC Academy should be your number one choice for your son/daughter.

Welcome

Hello everyone, we are Mrs Woodmansey and Mr Foster and we are the Co-head teachers at St Charles’ Voluntary Catholic Academy in Hull.

St Charles' Voluntary Catholic Academy is part of the St Cuthbert's Roman Catholic Academy Trust and the family of Hull Catholic Schools.

Our school is a vibrant, culturally diverse, inclusive academy located in the heart of Hull city centre and serves our local parish of St. Charles Borromeo.

We strive to accept the mission of Jesus in everything we do - to love, learn and share everyday. We really do keep Christ at the centre of all we do here.

St Charles is a one form entry primary school that includes Nursey up to Year 6, children aged 3 up to 11 years old.

Mrs Woodmansey Landscape

We have a reputation for being a friendly and welcoming school with a real sense of family and community spirit.

Being a city centre school in the heart of the local community, we have been welcoming families for well over 50 years and as such we have seen many generations of the same family move through the school.

What to expect when you join St Charles’ VC Academy

In both Nursery and Reception we work from the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The children develop through playing and exploring, active learning and creating and thinking critically. There are 7 areas of learning which are divided into the prime (Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language and Physical Development) and specific areas (Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design).

The prime areas are fundamental throughout the EYFS and the specific areas include the skills and knowledge which provide important contexts for learning and they develop more fully towards the end of the early years.

The children are immersed in lots of practical, first-hand learning experiences through which they are encouraged to explore, experiment and develop their language.

The children use both the indoor and outdoor classroom during teacher directed and child initiated times.
